Dodge City to Host USBL Post-Season Festival
The United States Basketball League Post-Season Festival, the USBL's annual championship tournament, will be held at the Dodge City Civic Center on June 27, 28 and 29, 2003.

The three-day single elimination tournament will bring the eight teams with the best records during the 2003 season to Dodge City to determine the USBL Championship. The event was held in Enid, Oklahoma in 2002 and was won by the home team, the Oklahoma Storm.

The last non-host team to win the tournament was the Dodge City Legend in 2000. The Legend beat the host Kansas Cagerz at Salina's Bicentennial Center in the semi-finals. The Pennsylvania Valley Dawgs beat the Legend for the 2001 USBL title at Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, PA.

USBL Director of Operations Ed Krinsky and Director of Media Relations Dennis Truax made the announcement with Legend General Manager Tom Nelson at a noon media conference Thursday in Dodge City.

"I have been working toward getting this event in Dodge City for over a year." Nelson stated. "Our fans who have attended the tournaments in the past know that this is a great weekend of basketball."

The tournament will tip off with four first round games on Friday, June 27. Games will tip off at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Semi-final games will be held at 5 and 8 p.m. on June 28, with the USBL Championship game scheduled Sunday afternoon at a time to be determined.

"We are very excited about bringing our showcase event to Dodge City." Krinsky said. "The Post-Season Festival will bring fans, players, coaches and scouts from across the country and around the world."
