Legend Head Coach Returns to Silver Stars Sideline in WNBA
Dodge City Legend Head Coach Dale Osbourne will return to San Antonio to begin his second stint as an assistant coach for the Silver Stars of the WNBA.
The head coach of the Silver Stars at the beginning of the season was former NBA player Dee Brown. After a six win and 20 loss start Brown resigned. Silver Stars chief operating officer Clarissa Davis-Wrightsil announced Wednesday that assistant coach Shell Dailey will be interim head coach for the remainder of the 2004 season. She also announced that Dale Osbourne will rejoin the team as an assistant coach. Last season a similar situation occurred when head coach Candy Harvey was relieved of her head coaching duties. Dailey was made interim head coach at that time and she brought Osbourne in for the last 12 games where they achieved a 6-6 record.
Osbourne is coming off of a very successful run in his first year as a head coach for the Dodge City Legend. The Legend won a division title, established a USBL record for consecutive home wins, and had the best record in the league. For the past two years Osbourne has served as the associate head coach for the Gary Steelheads of the Continental Basketball Association where he is scheduled to return when their season begins in November.
The WNBA is on a hiatus at the moment as many of its players participate in the Olympic Games in Athens. Play resumes in September.
