The United States Basketball League, Inc. (USBL), announced today that it has awarded an expansion franchise to Fort Worth, Texas for the upcoming 2003 season. The new franchise, owned by a conglomerate of owners headed by CEO Mark McClure, has been named the Texas Rim Rockers. The Rim Rockers will be the 11th team that will play in the 2003 season.

"This has been a day that I have working towards for a long time, stated CEO Mark McClure. "We are very happy to bring professional basketball to Fort Worth. We will bring an affordable and exciting brand of basketball to the Fort Worth community. Our management team is second to none and we can't wait to get things rolling for the upcoming season."

Former NBA veteran Robert Reid will be patrolling the sidelines this season for the Rim Rockers. The former Rocket star Reid has extensive coaching experience, most recently with the Southwest Basketball League.

McClure and Reid will be joined by other Rim Rockers management. These include: New Orleans Hornets star David Wesley (Co-Owner), Donald Wesley (Co-Owner and General Manager), Gordon Connolly (Co-Owner), Teri McMillan (Co-Owner), Tim McGraw (Assistant Coach), and Larry Lundy (Director of Sales).

'We are very excited to bring the USBL to Fort Worth," stated Founder and Commissioner Daniel T. Meisenheimer III. "The City of Fort Worth and the State of Texas is rich in basketball tradition. With an experienced management team in place, and the backing of NBA superstar David Wesley, we expect the Texas Rim Rockers to be one of the premier franchises in the USBL."

The Rim Rockers will draft players in the 2003 USBL Draft to be held on April 8th. The Rim Rockers will play a 30 game schedule followed by the League's Post-Season Festival.
